1. What is Medical Value Travel?

Due to the exponential growth of demand for international healthcare services, CIMA and VITA hospitals decided to help international patients undergoing this experience to feel as safe as possible. With the creation of the Medical Value Travel Department, a department which acts as a guide for international patient services, we can help make your experience as safe and easy as possible. MVT will help you plan you entire trip, making airline and hotel reservations, walking you through the medical process, and providing you with a bilingual MVT Coordinator to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

2. How do I know that I will be receiving high quality medical care?

International Hospital Corporation is a US company that owns and operates full service hospitals throughout Latin America. These hospitals are held to US standards and boast a highly trained medical staff that utilizes the state-of the-art medical equipment at the most sophisticated facilities in Mexico, Central America and Brazil, to bring you the highest quality healthcare. CIMA and VITA Hospitals offer all the services you could find in an American hospital and then some.

We maintain educational partnerships and affiliations with prestigious American medical institutions, such as Mayo Clinic, University of Texas Southwestern, and the Harvard-run Children’s Hospital Boston, to give our doctors and nurses world class training, ensuring that our patient care is second to none.

All our Hospitals are held accountable to US and Canadian Standards. CIMA and VITA facilities are accredited by either the United States Joint Commission International [JCI] or the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation [CCHSA] as well as local and national accrediting bodies. At our hospitals you will be receiving care that is as good or better than care in many US hospitals. Therefore, MVT is “Your Safest Medical Care, Close to Home” ®

3. What is the JOINT COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL?

The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care for more than 15,000 health care organizations.  To maintain and earn accreditation, organizations must have an extensive on-site review by a team of Joint Commission health care professionals, at least once every three years. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the organization's performance in areas that affect the quality of your care.  Accreditation may then be awarded based on how well the organizations met Joint Commission standards. (www.jointcommission.org)
Joint Commission International (JCI) is a division of The Joint Commission. For more than 50 years, The Joint Commission and its predecessor organization have been dedicated to improving the quality and safety of health care services. Today the largest accredited of health care organizations in the United States, the Joint Commission surveys nearly 20,000 health care programs through a voluntary accreditation process.
In 2008, JCI introduced 75 new standards, most related to Patient Safety. In that year only four hospitals passed this new stricter inspection, three of these hospitals were our very own CIMA Hospitals.
The Joint Commission and its affiliate are both not-for-profit organizations. (www.jointcommissioninternational.com)

4. CONFIDENTIALITY

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, HIPAA, enacted in the United States in 1996, protects the privacy and security of individuals’ personal health information. HIPAA privacy standards govern the use and disclosure of protected health information (PHI). Under this US Privacy Rule, health plans and certain health care providers must guard against misuse of individual’s identifiable health information and limit the sharing of such information, and consumers are afforded significant new rights to enable them to understand and control how their health information is used and disclosed.
Although a US law, we at MVT comply with HIPAA because ethically, it is the right thing to do.
